What are your favorite books?

It’s Your Time, Living Your Best Life Now, Some Love Some Pain, Girl Naw; Defining Moments

When did you begin to realize you wanted to write?

I’ve always been a writer at heart beginning when I was in middle school but it wasn’t until a tragedy in 1997 that I was told to begin journaling as a way to conquer my pain.  Journaling took me to a new level and it was then that God placed it in my spirit to write. I am so glad that I listened.

Shelia, tell us about your journey to publication.

My journey to publication started out as a self published author with my own publishing company.  I self published two of books, one in 2000 and the second book in 2002.  In 2005, by the grace of God, I was introduced to NY Times Bestselling Author, Carl Weber who is the owner of Urban Books. Mr. Weber began a Christian line of books. I submitted my manuscript to him in 2005 and was offered a two book deal.  I have been writing for Urban Books’ Christian fiction line since then.

Are you a full-time writer? If so, describe your day?

Yes, I am a full time writer, as well as a copyeditor. My writing day consists of ‘night writing’. I usually reserve my day time hours for working on other writers’ works.

About the Book

Three friends with different struggles rely on God and each other to get by. Layla Hobbs has so much to offer, including a beautiful singing voice, but obesity and low self-esteem hold her back from life and finding true love. Envy Wilson has always been Layla’s backbone. But what about her own dark secrets? She won’t share them with anyone, and it’s starting to eat away at her from the inside. And then there’s Kacie Mayweather. Stricken with cerebral palsy, she’s had her share of men—five baby daddies for six children, in fact. But she’s never had one man to call her own. They’ll need plenty of faith and support from each other to see the real beauty that lies within each one of them and fulfill their deepest desires at last.

Do You Wanna Be Made Whole Blog Tour

BernardBoulton

MEET BERNARD BOULTON

Bernard Boulton has written a story about three men who seek to be whole in God through the spiritual leadership of a pastor. This gripping story is titled DO YOU WANNA BE MADE WHOLE?  Bernard is the pastor of New Mine Creek Church in southern Virginia. He is married to his wife of eighteen years, Vantoria and they are the parents of their son, Bernard Quincy. Bernard’s hobbies include reading, traveling and supporting his hometown team the Cleveland Cavaliers and Lebron James.

Bernard, tell us about yourself.

I am forty two years old. I was born and raised in Cleveland Ohio. I now live in south Virginia with my wife of eighteen years. We have a son who is a sophomore in high school. I am a pastor of a church in my eighth year.

What type of jobs or careers have you worked in the past?

I’ve had quite a few jobs as I waited for God to place me in full time ministry. I’ve been in security, sales, telemarketing and construction. While I attended college, I worked for the Postal service.

Who are your favorite authors?

My all time author from childhood is Alex Haley. My favorite current authors are Kendra Norman Bellamy, Vanessa Griggs and Vanessa Miller. My favorite new author is Wanda B. Campbell.

What are your favorite books?

Roots and The Autobiography of Malcolm X. There is plenty of great Christian fiction that I have read several times.

When did you begin to realize you wanted to write?

When I was a little boy. Many times the television shows that I watched would ignite in me the desire to write.

Tell us about your journey to publication.

After I had written Do You Wanna Be Made Whole I was sure that I was going to self publish. I was aware of the stiff competition in the publishing industry and I was interested in being in control of my story. However before I ventured into self publishing I had a friend with a publishing house in Chicago who suggested that I submit my manuscript to that company, which I did. They kept it for six months before deciding that they wouldn’t publish it. After that I regained my focus and prepared the manuscript for self publishing. It has been an exciting journey and I love it!

Are you a full-time writer? If so, describe your day?

No I’m not full time but I manage my own schedule most of the week and so I can set time aside to write.

How Would You Define Victorious Living?

Deana Murphy says, “I don’t believe there’s anyway to be victorious or live victoriously apart from knowing and living by the Word of God.

I believe victorious living is first realizing that by default, we already have the key to Victorious Living. We are already victorious through Jesus Christ. Yet Victorious Living is also appropriating and manifesting victory in every area of our lives by hearing and doing what His word says. Standing on His promises regardless of the circumstances and situations; unwavering until the answer manifests no matter how long it takes. This is our faith which is the victory that overcomes the world’s circumstances.”

Angela Brown says “Victorious Living to me is living successfully and conquering the challenges that are put before us. I think Victorious Living is following the path that God has set forth for each of us by having faith and without doubting or questioning, just following and winning! Being victorious!”
