Buzzin’ about with Dee Dee Scott

Please tell us about your latest book.

My Husband's WomanMy Husband’s Woman is a story about a young, naïve woman named Meshia who becomes involved with Byron, a married attorney eighteen years her senior. The affair causes his wife Alexandra to slowly break down, and both Meshia and Byron find themselves in a position that they never saw coming.

Who, if anyone, has influenced your writing?

I was inspired by the people who were reading my handwritten stories. They loved them and wanted to read more. After my husband brought me my computer, that pushed me to write even more. After I published my first book, people were telling me that they could not put the book down. That inspired me to keep writing and doing what I do.

What is the most rewarding thing about being a writer?

The emails from people saying how much my book/stageplays touched them.

What truly motivates you in general? In your writing?

What truly motivates me is life, and knowing that it is a blessing to be alive and well. Also, the emails from people saying how much my book touched them, and meeting people at my stage plays who get mad or cheer on a character. Knowing that the audience connected with the characters, and that the story emotionally touched them, means a lot to me.

What are some of your favorite things to do?

I spend time with my family. We are very close and they are my biggest support system. I love yoga and meditating on the word of Jehovah God and my Lord and savior Jesus Christ too. I am all about being beautiful from the inside out. If my spiritual man is out of order, so am I.

Do you have a favorite author? Favorite book?

I will read any book/ genre as long as the story holds my attention.

Are there any words of encouragement for unpublished writers?

Study and learn everything you can about this industry. Lose the naysayers. If you have a talent, if you have a dream, surround yourself with like-minded people who will uplift and support you. Negative people are Cancer. They will destroy you and steer you away from your dreams, if you let them. You have to stay free of as much negativity as possible. You also have to work hard and stay focused on your path. Lastly, protect your dreams and surround yourself with people who believe in you and your vision.

What question would you love to answer that I didn’t ask?

Thank you for featuring me! Thanks to everyone who supported me. I hope you will come out to see my movie, Lake House that will be released later in 2013. Lake House is an emotional, edge of your seat thriller. This movie takes so many twist and turns, and the surprise ending…you don’t want to miss it!

What can we expect from you in the future?

I am working on my first film: Lake House that will be released later in 2013. I will also continue touring with the stage play- My Husband’s Woman. I am also producing two stage plays (Misery Loves Company and All The Bad Man Can Do Is keep The Good One From Coming To You) coming in 2014. I also have eight talented authors signed to my publishing company, Ahsyad Publications. Some of their books will be released soon.

How do we find out about you and your books? How may readers contact you?

My books are available on Amazon, Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble and many sites online. I can also be found on:
